McHenry County Illinois Connection Quarterly
After careful consideration, the Board has made the necessary decision to discontinue publication of the MCIGS Connection Quarterly. As genealogists have found new ways to share their research and connect with each other online, we have seen a marked decline in member submitted articles, ancestor charts and queries for the journal. As a society, we have also found more effective ways of publishing our indexing projects through our searchable web site. Given the considerable cost, time, and effort that goes into curating, editing, printing and mailing the Quarterly four times a year, we have found that we are no longer able to sustain the endeavor.
We are currently working to digitize all issues of the MCIGS Connection Quarterly from 1983-2016 to make them available to our members online. We have already digitized the first 20 years and are working to make that content available to our members online in the coming months.
We are also seeking volunteers to help us finish compiling a master surname index for the complete run of the publication. You need not live locally to participate in this project. If this sounds like something that might interest you, please contact our new Volunteer Coordinator, Kim McGuigan at [email protected].
Please contact us for information about the availability of back issues. You may also find issues at many local libraries including Crystal Lake Public Library and McHenry Public Library.
The following Table of Contents lists will assist in ordering back issues of interest.
