Welcome
to the MCIGS
Web SitE
The
McHenry County Illinois Genealogical Society is a non-profit, tax exempt organization of
family history researchers from all over the United States, Canada and Germany.
Most
of the members have ancestry in McHenry County, but many of the local members do
not.
The purpose of MCIGS is to foster an interest in genealogy, provide instruction
in family research methods and practices, and preserve early McHenry County records.
Our Web presence, is to aid our fellow genealogists who have McHenry County ancestry in
their search for their roots, by providing links to sources which family
history researchers may find helpful. Please note that MCIGS itself cannot
answer personal requests for Look-ups from the sources found on our website.
Another way in which
we aid researchers of McHenry
County, is to make available some of the
collections of local data in the form of Publications.
The Society's Publications, provide records
and data that are not available on the internet. To view a list of all
available current Publications, click on the "Publications"
button in menu to the left. These Publications are excellent
sources of data for researchers. Please take a moment to view the
Publications page. All proceeds from the sale of these
Publications, play a very important role in helping to support the
Society, so that we may continue to provide data for those researching their
ancestors, through our website, and also future Publications.
To
view sources of data which is available to view, on our website, click on the
"Indices"
button in menu to the left. More data is being
added on a regular basis, so please check our site
regularly. Announcements for newly added files may be found on the
What's New page, click on "What's New " button in
menu to the left.
